Welcome YIMn, the Newest Shade of Blue

If you aren’t overwhelmed by the amount of colors on the spectrum already, this might just be the chip that breaks the paint deck. Thanks to a “happy, accidental” discovery by scientists at Oregon State University, the color blue has become even more bold and bright!

The team has discovered a new shade called YIMn blue – based on its elements of Yttrium, Indium and Manganese.

Recently, we posted the blog “Dare to be Bold with Blue.” Well this new shade directly speaks to that title. At first glance it may just look like any other shade of blue, almost a cobalt. But if you take a closer look at its roots you’ll find that the pigment forms in such a way that red and green wavelengths are absorbed and light reflects back ONLY blue. Durable, stable and unfadeable, this brilliantly blue shade is sure to spark some inspiration in interiors on paint colors, accessories, art and décor!
